Dmitry Nesterov

Piano and Collaborative Piano

Dmitry Nesterov brings the rich traditions of both the Russian and North American piano schools to his work as an artist and highly sought-after pedagogue. His academic foundation is distinguished, including graduation from the Central Music School in Moscow, the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and the University of Calgary.

His deep pedagogical interest lies in finding the most efficient way to connect technique and music to achieve artistic desires.

Mr. Nesterov’s performing career in Canada began in 1992 as a Laureate of the first Esther Honens Calgary International Piano Competition. Since settling in Canada in 1994, he has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Calgary, Edmonton, and Kamloops Symphonies, and has collaborated with major figures such as the St. Lawrence String Quartet and conductors Hans Graf and Mario Bernardi. He is also part of Duo Solista with his wife, Olga Kotova.

Currently, Mr. Nesterov is a dedicated faculty member at Mount Royal University in Calgary, where he is actively engaged in the Music Academy Performance Program.
