Dr. Evgeny Chugunov is a concert pianist and educator with performance experience across Canada, the USA, Finland, Norway, Russia, and Italy. He shares his expertise through masterclasses, workshops, and as a jury member for piano competitions. His students have achieved recognition in national and international competitions, reflecting his commitment to fostering their success.
Dr. Chugunov's research focuses on developing innovative teaching methods to prevent performance-related injuries in young musicians and provide effective rehabilitation strategies for those already affected. By integrating principles of biomechanics, physiology, and pedagogy, his work aims to enhance musicians' physical well-being, ensuring optimal performance and long-term career sustainability.
He has received several awards, including the Lakehead University Teaching Innovation Award (2019) and the Merit Award for Excellence in Teaching and Creative Activities (2021), as well as prizes in the Russian National Student Piano Competition (Glazov, 1997) and the Paul and Verna Gelinas Competition (Montreal, 2001).
